Improving your life is something that you can work on by taking one step at a time. And when you set out on this journey, you would realize that it often comes down to the smallest of things that you do regularly. Sure, there are people who will think that they are just too busy to focus on personal development and self-improvement when there is a family to take care of and bills to pay. So, why not just start slow. All you have to do is to focus on some if not all of the activities and see if it helps you to become a better version of yourself.   

1. Practice Mindfulness 

People are usually easily distracted. So, the first thing that you should do is to identify which things can distract you and then get rid of them during the time when you are practicing mindfulness. For me, it is my Spectrum TV. If that were on normal billing then it might be ignorable but I was using Spectrum net billing option without interruption. I can’t really focus on anything else while I am watching my favorite TV shows. After you have put your things away, it is now time to meditate. Here is the following way:

  • Set a timer for 15-20 minutes
  • Go somewhere where nobody can disturb you 
  • Get a firm yet comfortable chair and sit with your legs bent at a 90-degree angle
  • Sit straight, look downward and keep your eyes partly open
  • You can now meditate. Just begin with a long breath in
  • You can now breathe out
  • Repeat breathing exercise again and again at least a couple of times

Achieving mindfulness has its own benefits. For instance, it help you to reduce your stress greatly, allows you to focus, and would keep you positive. Also, it will help you to have a clear state of mind. And not to forget that it enables you to establish a connection to deep wisdom. 

2. Create a Consistent Morning Routine 

Who doesn’t want to have a productive day? After all, it helps get things in order and one can be done with their tasks timely. However, there are people who sometimes struggle with it. If you feel that you look like them then there is nothing to worry about. You see, the key to being productive is to first break down every task of the day into small steps and then schedule everything that needs to be done. This will help you know what tasks you have to complete from the moment you wake up till you go to bed. Now, this might sound a bit overwhelming but it will definitely work. 

3. Develop a Killer Bedtime Routine 

Just like developing a morning routine, you should have a bedtime routine. This will help you a lot to start the day with a positive attitude. Now when it comes to working on a bedtime routine, everyone can do their own set of activities that will help them sleep better. For instance, some might prefer to take a nice bath in the evening and then spend 30-40 minutes just relaxing in bed by reading a book or scrolling through social media. Whatever your routine may be, just make sure that you stick by it. This will help you sleep better. 

4. Perform a Midday Activity 

Midday activity is very important. It will allow you to have a short break which would certainly rescue you from the worst midday slumps. There are different activities which you can perform. Some of them are as follows 

  • Stretching 
  • Check your emails 
  • Show a sign of gratitude 
  • Reading for pleasure 

If you perform any of the above or some other activity then it would definitely boost your energy and you will be able to complete your work more efficiently. Also, it will allow you to relax for a while. 

5. Revisit Your Goals 

Did you set any New Year’s resolutions or do you have any monthly goals for yourself? If your answer is yes then you should revisit them and see if you have fulfilled any of them yet. If not then don’t fret. You can just go through all of them again and see if there are some that you want to change or get rid of. After that, you can just take some time out from your busy schedule and reflect on how far you have come. You can think about where you want to be. At the same time, you should focus on completing your goals as fulfilling them would give you a sense of accomplishment that will make you feel great.
